From a member of the ATR Appreciation Society!
I have a 2005 Kia Sorento with 150,000 miles and I have had my current Cooper tires for almost 80,000 miles!!! I have been a bit concerned that I must need new tires BUT my husband and the mechanics at the shop where I have my oil changed insist I can get a few thousand more! Needless to say I don't want to press my luck, but these are fantastic tires. I have no complaints about the tires! My son and I have been safe on your tires for many long-distance trips and in lots of road conditions. They are great! Do you have a very loyal customer appreciation discount?!

Discoverers Carry Adventurer Around the World
A round-the-world journey should start and end on Cooper tires, said British adventurer Tim Dennis.
Visiting Cooper Tire in Findlay, Ohio, this week, part-way through his newest trek, the "Arctic to Antarctic Adventure," the 36-year-old said he had total confidence in theDiscoverer S/Ts outfitting his 1993 Toyota Land Cruiser 80 series diesel. Already, the tires have carried him from his starting point 18 months ago in Dalbeattie, Scotland, around the globe and across 12 countries to Cape Spear, Newfoundland, Canada, the most easterly point in North America.
"I will never use any other tire," Tim vowed. "Even after all these travels, the tires are still fine. Your tires have more tread and seem to be much stronger than others."
He speaks from experience. His Discoverers carried Tim across vast, desolate Siberian steppes - where the Land Cruiser dropped four feet into a hole and broke an axle - through sweltering heat in Japan, and down treacherous ice highways amid minus-56-degree temperatures in the Arctic. After logging nearly 40,000 miles, the tires still boast a healthy rugged tread and appear amazingly unscathed, given their
recent workout.
Tim's travels are meant to draw attention to a 20-year-old non-profit organization based in Canada, Street Kids International, which provides training for homeless and at-risk youth to avoid drugs and other temptations and earn a living. The United Nations recognized Street Kids International as a global best practice leader in
youth work.
During appearances at four schools in Japan, the adventurer set up his entire campsite and described to schoolchildren how he had to get food, shelter and water. Bridging to his Street Kids International work, Tim pointed out that many children worldwide didn't have food, shelter and water. The visual demonstration prompted Japanese students to set up their own venture, a jam-making project, to raise funds for the non-profit.
"It was very moving, to see their reaction and their willingness to help," Tim said.
An entrepreneur who had a business in classic car transport and storage, Tim set off on his journeys after receiving some sage advice from his mother back in Scotland. His father and brother had recently died, and his mother told him, "Life is so precious. If you want to do something, just do it."
With that, the determined explorer sold his house, bought his Land Cruiser and equipped it with a pop-up tent, long-range gas tanks, water purification system and industrial refrigeration units, and said good-bye to the world of day-to-day work, mortgages and bill payments.
"At the moment, this is what I'm meant to be doing," said Tim, who is already plotting to ship his car from Brazil to North Africa for another trip at the end of this one. "This kind of life, for me, has no end in sight at the moment."

The Spanish Toyota KXR team and their driver, Xavier Foj, are full of praise for the Cooper Discoverer STT tyres that they used for this year's tougher-than-ever Dakar rally. They believe that these STTs helped them achieve a truly remarkable result, coming second in the T2 Diesal class and in the top 20 overall - this was an outstanding outcome.
The rally was run through Argentina and Chile this year (in previous years it has taken place in Africa) and it was a much tougher propostion with scorching temperatures and a much more challenging route that, in places, was virtually impassable.
However, the STT with it's 3-ply Armor-Tek3 carcass designed for extra durability and superior resistance to cracking and bruising, was in it's element when dealing with rock-climbing, mud-eating and testing terrains. In short, the team were full of praise for this truly dependable tyre with it's superb traction which has been developed for all weather conditions.
To quote Xavier again "The Cooper tyres adapted perfectly to this year's diversity of terrain. ... They were definitely the right choice."
Let's face it - Cooper tyres are going from strength to strength and the STT is proving it's worth time and time again.
"Holy cow, these tyres rock! So said Matt Watters of Bloomfield, Michigan, of the Cooper Zeon LTZs when he participated recently in the 'Off Roving the Great Continental Divide II' event in America driving his 2005 Land Rover Discovery 3 V8. His reaction is hardly surprising - it's versatility and technical superiority are undeniable. Matt and other participants (who were also driving Land Rovers) certainly put these tyres through their paces and found that their response to rock climbing, soft mud and sand surfaces was fantastic . They were also suitably impressed with the quiet, comfortable ride when on the open road. To quote Matt again "these tyres were soft and plush the whole trip. What a combination, off and on road beauty in one tyre."
It's no wonder that these fabulous tyres whose performance matches their looks will be on the top of everyone's wish list when they appear in the UK. For more information you should contact Tyrespec Multibrand on 08706 093507.
The truly awesome Zeon LTZ all-terrain tyre incorporates many state-of-the-art features including the following:-
A combination of sweeping lateral grooves and irregularly shaped tread elements to provide solid all terrain performance. The optimized pitch sequence helps provide even treadwear and reduced tread related noise.
Transverse and circumferential grooves which both play their part in directing water away from the tread pattern to resist aquaplaning.
Ridged tie bars which provide increased lug stability by locking the lugs while also creating an entrenched siping advantage within the channelled area for enhanced steering and traction.
Shoulder lugs that are alternately scalloped and offset for improved traction on soft surfaces like sand and mud.
CAD using variable pitched sequence creates a balanced pitch to reduce noise while maintaining M+S traction capabilities and extended tread life.
Full depth siped elements provide for increased traction while reducing heat build-up within those elements for balanced wear.
Special venting technology is incorporated in the mould design of the tread area and provides a crisp, clean, premium appearance.
The rubber rim protector extends beyond the rim flange and reduces the chance of rim damage that can occur if a tyre or wheel assembly scuffs a kerb.
Cooper Tire is offering more durability and choice than ever before with its newest ultra-high performance tyre, the Cooper Zeon CS6.
Replacing the Cooper Zeon XTC V and W-rated sizes, the CS6 features a new silica tread compound which, thanks to the latest in computer-aided design technology, offers enhanced grip in wet weather braking and handling situations, but also features up to 12% longer tread wear than the XTC.
The CS6 will be available in sizes ranging from 15 to 18 inch rim diameters, and more high-speed ratings than its predecessor, including V, W and Y ratings.
The CS6's new up-rated tyre construction means the CS6 is lighter than its predecessor, and features lower rolling resistance, which offers energy and money saving benefits to consumers.
"The Cooper Zeon XTC has been a popular element of our high-performance range since it was introduced in 2005," said Cooper Tire Europe managing director, Julian Baldwin.
"We are constantly working to continuously improve our products, and with the latest technology from our European Technology Centre, we're able to do just that with the CS6.
"This is a tyre that not only features enhanced handling, but also a longer-lasting tread that means customers won't have to think about spending money on replacement tyres for that bit longer - a key bonus point in the current economic climate."
The CS6's asymmetric 'rib' tread pattern delivers balanced wear, excellent water-clearing properties and has been designed to run with as little noise as possible, increasing the comfort for the driver.
With three quarters of new cars rolling off the production line with alloy wheels, the CS6 also benefits from rim flange protectors, which help protect alloys against expensive kerb damage.
The Cooper Zeon CS6 is available in 38 sizes, from 15-inch to 18-inch diameters. Selected run-flat sizes are also being prepared and will be available in the coming months.
Cooper Tire Press Release 2.3.2009
In spite of the economic downturn Sinton's customers are happy to continue investing in their SUVs and off road vehicles and the Cooper All Terrain (Disoverer ATR) and mud pattern (Discoverer STT) are as popular as ever with the Discoverer ST remaining a firm favourite with those enthusiasts who want a 40% on-road/60% off road tyre.
The latest additions to the Cooper stable are the Zeon XSTA which replaces the Sports HP in the Discoverer range and the Zeon LTZ which comes in American truck sizes but is also suitable for some UK conversions. Both are suitable for the aftermarket.
The Zeon XSTA is an SUV M & S tyre with an asymmetrical tread design offering all season traction and enhanced stability even at high speed. The circumferential and transverse grooves mean increased water evacuation and ensure that the tyre performs well on wet surfaces, resisting hydroplaning and offering superior handling. This good looking tyre is already much in demand from 4x4 owners who want top level performance from their vehicles. Available in a wide range of sizes these tyres come in H or V ratings.
The Zeon LTZ is a gutsy CAD All Terrain M&S tyre with extended tread life and a rim protection which obviously decreases the chance of rim damage. It has been designed to give a quieter ride but made for vehicles that really want to go places. As with the XSTA, the design of the grooves makes for more efficient expulsion of water and provides it with greater resistance to aquaplaning. It also boasts increased lug stability and entrenched siping advantage for greater steering control and improved traction. The scalloped and offset shoulder lug design improves this tyres performance on sand and mud but it is equally at home on rocky surfaces. Rave reviews of this tyre can be seen on Cooper Tire's own website - www.coopertire.com.
Both of the above are durable, good looking premium tyres featuring ventless technology. For further information please call on 08706 093507 to speak to one of our sales team.
As from 1 October 2009 new requirements for tyre noise levels will come into force under a directive from the European Commission and all new replacement tyres supplied into the market will be required to conform to certain standards as set out in Directive 2001/43/EEC. These standards are already in place for original equipment and the timetable for the introduction as it applies to replacement tyres (with some minor exceptions) is as follows:-
1 October 2009 - all tyres with the exception of C1d and C1e tyres.
1 October 2010 - C1d tyres (ie. tyres with over 185 and up to 215 section width)
1 October 2011 - C1e tyres (ie. tyres with over 215 section width)
The new noise limit requirements are contained with provisions covering safety, environmental issues and the rolling resistance of tyres in this directive and conformity to them is denoted by the emark symbol. This is an 'e' followed by the distinguishing mark of the member state both of which are in a small box. Then there is a type approval number preceded by 02 for passenger car tyres and is followed by an 's' (for sound).
We are often asked whether certain tyres give a quiet ride or not so this issue will be of interest to a number of our customers. The details above are not intended to give any authorative guidance on the subject and to find out more it will be necessary to visit various official websites that can offer further information. Just search under 2001/43/EEC.
